Diary of a "Nu Life"
Last September, I posted a blog about starting fitness bootcamp. Well, things didn't go as planned so I had to put it off. Fast forward to now...this past Saturday, I attended Nu Life's orientation along with my BFF, Jay. As I expected, it was packed! Nu Life's program is very popular so there was no surprise to see a room full of women--and a sprinkle of men--who want so very badly to get in shape physically & to improve their health. Miesha, Nu Life's proprietor, talked to us all very honestly about what the program entails--in a nutshell, it ain't easy. But let's be honest, anything worth having isn't easy to come by and definitely takes hard work.
Today, so the meal plan begins. I haven't been to the grocery store yet (going this evening after bootcamp!) but I'm doing ok thus far. For breakfast I had 2/3 cup of Cheerios with about 4 ounces of low fat milk and a banana. Hate milk, love fruit. For a snack I ate an apple and for lunch I ate a huge salad with NO CHEESE (that was HARD), a ton of veggies and a couple teaspoons of vinaigrette dressing. So far, I've consumed 64 ounces of water too! I can't lie though, LOL, I did have 10 peanut M&M's just now. Don't shoot me, I'm far from perfect! This is a process but like I said, I'm willing to get to the top of the mountain. For dinner tonight, I plan on having a veggie burger on a whole wheat sandwich thin and some baked sweet potato fries. I'll be back to dish on my dish!
Instead of viewing my "nu life" as a "task", I've decided to view it as a positive lifestyle change with a ton of benefits. Bad eating habits and little physical activity brought me here and my quest to be fit & healthy will keep me here. I've set a realistic weight loss goal, I've acquired some great & interesting healthy recipes and most of all, I have a ton of support from those around me. Changing your life and the food you eat is definitely NOT an easy thing to do, but I'm determined to do so.
...Be back with more after tonight's bootcamp! TTYS!!!...
